The Lakewood Avenue Children's School community has lost a beloved friend, mentor, and colleague. Margaret Edwards, founder of the award-winning Durham school, died Sunday, March 7, 2010. Margaret’s generosity, dedication to her field, and bright smile touched so many lives – adults as much as children – and she will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 4–6 p.m. at Greystone Inn in Durham.

To commemorate Margaret’s dedication to young children and her passion for reading and children’s literacy, we have partnered with Read Seed, a Durham group that provides books to children in our community.
